HTC and ART have both announced their seasons for next year. SameOld, SameOld.
The Man Who was compelling but not exciting. Probably wasn't intended to be; Peter Brook is into the flow now. Off to the latest Nunsense at Stoneham tonight.

It's wall to wall Julia. Huntington's announced its fall schedule, starting with Rebeck's "Mauritius", with Kate Burton in "Cherry Orchard" in the middle. They start with a"pre-Broadway" production of Wilson's "Radio Golf."Nothing about what's in town right now. nOff to "The Man Who" shortly.
Both major papers and the Phoenix gave Gilman's weak
Sweetest Swing in Baseball an unjustified pass. It must be the Wizard of Oz effect, which has also been damned with faint praise. No mention of Nora's opening of "The Man Who" anywhere
Another day of no local theatre news. Nora is opening
The Man Who at Boston Playwrights. I just posted my
Sweetest Swing review
ON THE AISLE. Stoneham is opening the Las Vegas
Nunsense show, which will be followed by the
Rat Pack Tribute show. And Actors' Shakespeare opens the seldom seen
All's Well... this weekend. Must have been the weekend and taxes.
Marathon monday. Will have review of
The Sweetest Swing... up tomorrow. Catching
The Man Who on Thurs at BPT(Nora),
Nunsense... out in Stoneham, and
All's Well... in Camb. at Durrell Hall (ASP) on Sat. Recovering from the weekend tonight.
The Sweetest Swing in Baseball is the emptiest show in a long time. It could almost be a parody of a playwright writing about how hard it is to deal with fame. Boo-hoo or just plain boo. The cast is good to excellent, but has little to work with. Sarah Newhouse tries very hard in the lead, but she may be miscast. Too many high notes. No resolution, but what can you do in 80 minutes?
